Description
This war memorial is made of light grey granite and features a tall Celtic cross with a tapering shaft. It stands on a deep base that is inscribed with the names of the deceased, while additional names are listed on the plinth, which has the dates 1914-1919 in relief at the front and is positioned two steps below. The shaft is decorated with interlace ornament on each main face, displaying the Welsh inscription 'Mewn Anghof Ni Chant Fod' on the front and the English phrase 'Their Name Liveth For Ever-more' on the rear. The other lettering is leaded, with the main inscription dedicated to the men of Rhymney on the front and names covering the other three sides of the plinth and base.
