Description
Exning War Memorial is made of Cornish granite and features a Latin cross with intricate carved detailing. On the front of the cross, there is a smaller cross carved in relief, along with the inscription "1914 – 1918" in lead lettering.
The cross is positioned atop a hexagonal tapering shaft that has a collar at the top and a moulded base. Three sides of the base of the shaft display carved relief details.
The shaft rises from a square plinth, with each face featuring indented panels that hold inscriptions in lead lettering. The front face reads "OUR GLORIOUS DEAD," while the other three faces list the names of those who fell in the First World War.
The plinth rests on a three-stepped base, with the top step inscribed with "1914 – 1918 & 1939 – 1945." In front of the memorial is a stone book inscribed with "1939 – 1945 (NAMES)."
The memorial is surrounded by a low granite kerb and posts connected by a chain link fence.
