Description
Nos 13 and 14 Bank Buildings are a pair of three-storey houses with a basement, featuring five windows and a double pile design. The exterior is finished in colourwashed stucco over a rubble base, topped with a gently pitched slate roof that has close verges. The houses have rendered projecting end stacks and a dentil eaves cornice.
The second floor has six-pane sash windows, while the first and ground floors have twelve-pane sash windows. A central doorway is framed by a Tuscan timber portico with an open pediment that features dentils on columns with pilasters flanking the entrance. Above the recessed broad six-fielded panel door, which has the upper two panels glazed, is a blind radial fanlight. The forecourt has a shallow area with basement windows and original wrought iron railings that have spear points and urn finials on the stanchions.
To the left, there is a two-storey service wing with one window, also finished in colourwashed stucco over rubble and featuring a gently pitched slate roof and rendered stack. It has a dentil eaves cornice, a twelve-pane sash window on the first floor, and a similar window below on the ground floor. The doorway to the right has a 19th-century gabled hood on brackets with sunk panelled pilasters, leading to an original six-panel door with the upper two panels glazed. A rubble revetment wall is present at the front.
On the rear elevation, there are two six-pane sash windows on the second floor and three twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor, similar to those on the ground floor, which flank a later lean-to projection.
