Description
A pair of symmetrical houses dating from the 1840s, located at Sunnyside. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof. They are three storeys high with a basement, and each house has three bays; the central bays are recessed and feature a second-floor projection. First and second-floor sill courses run along the facade, and the outer bays are finished with cornices incorporating a frieze. Rusticated quoin strips highlight the corners. The windows have architraves, and most retain original sash glazing. Ground-floor windows have segmental-head architraves with key stones; those in the recessed bays are tripartite sashes. First-floor windows feature key stones, with alternating round-headed sashes surmounted by consoled segmental pediments, and straight-headed sashes topped with consoled triangular pediments. The round-headed windows on the first floor incorporate decorative roundels in the upper sash bars. Second-floor round-headed windows have casements with two round-headed lights, also featuring an upper roundel. The round-headed entrances have rusticated surrounds and are sheltered by Doric porches with antefixae. The rear facade has a similar design, including a Venetian window. Decorative area railings are present, along with a balustraded parapet. Number 6 features a two-storey canted bay window to the first bay.
