Description

A pair of symmetrical houses dating from the 1840s, located at Sunnyside. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof. They are three storeys high, with a basement, and each house has three bays. The central bays are recessed and feature a second-floor projection. The houses have first and second-floor sill courses, and top cornices, with a frieze to the outer bays. Rusticated quoin strips emphasize the corners. The windows have architraves, are sash windows, and largely retain glazing bars. The ground-floor windows have architraves with segmental heads and keys; those in the central bays are tripartite sashes. First-floor windows have keys and are alternately round-headed, with consoled segmental pediments, and straight-headed, with consoled triangular pediments. The round-headed first-floor windows have sashes with a roundel in the upper glazing bar. The second-floor round-headed windows are casements with two round-headed lights and an upper roundel. The round-headed entrances have rusticated surrounds and Doric porches with antefixae. The rear facade is similar in design, and includes a Venetian window. Decorative area railings are present.
