Description
The Baytree Hotel, part of a pair of former houses, dates from the 19th century and consists of four storeys and a basement, featuring two window fronts. The buildings are finished in stucco with a chanelled ground floor and have slate roofs topped with a modillion cornice. On the top floor, there are two camber-headed windows with fixed glazing, and a string course at sill level. The second floor has two sash windows set in shouldered architraves with keystones. On the first floor, to the right, there is a tripartite sash window, while to the left, there is a splayed bay window that extends down to the basement level, both with sash glazing. The doorways to the right are flanked by pilasters and feature a bracketed cornice, with steps leading up to the entrance that are supported by piers and flanked by iron railings. The basement area is also enclosed by railings.
It is noted that No. 9 has lost its modillions in the cornice, and its doorway has been converted into a window.
