Description
The Cumberland Hotel, located at Nos 2-5 North Parade in Llandudno, is a hotel built in stucco with a rusticated ground floor and a slate roof. It features a three-window front that rises four storeys above a basement. The building is adorned with a cornice that has modillions and dentils, and a frieze decorated with quatrefoils.
On the third floor, there are three square-headed windows with architraves. The second floor has three camber-headed windows with shoulder-headed architraves, and a stringcourse at sill level. The first floor showcases a central window with paired round-headed lights, flanked by pilasters and cornices. The outer bays feature splayed bay windows that extend down to the basement level; the first floor has a central camber-headed light and side round-headed lights, while square-headed lights are present on the floors below. A modillion cornice is positioned over the ground floor windows.
There are steps leading up to the central doorway, which is framed by engaged columns, brackets, and a cornice that rises to form a pediment. The roof includes three box dormers with sash glazing. At ground floor level, there is an attractive ironwork canopy, likely dating from the early 20th century.
