Description
The Montclare Hotel, located at Nos 2-5 North Parade in Llandudno, is a hotel building constructed with stucco and featuring a rusticated ground floor. It has a slate roof and sash glazing. The building presents a three-window front that rises four storeys above a basement. Architectural details include a cornice adorned with modillions and dentils, and a frieze decorated with quatrefoils.
On the third floor, there are three square-headed windows framed with architraves. The second floor features three camber-headed windows with shoulder-headed architraves and a stringcourse at sill level. The first floor has a central window consisting of paired round-headed lights flanked by pilasters and cornices. The outer bays are highlighted by splayed bay windows that extend down to the basement level; the first floor includes a central camber-headed light with round-headed side lights, while the lower floors have square-headed lights. A modillion cornice is positioned above the ground floor windows.
Access to the central doorway is via steps, which are flanked by engaged columns, with brackets and a cornice that rises to form a pediment. The roof is punctuated by three box dormers featuring casement glazing.
