Description
The Angel Hotel is a building that underwent late 19th century remodeling of an earlier 19th century structure. It is two and a half stories tall with three windows across the front. The exterior features colourwashed roughcast over rubble, and it has a moderately pitched slate roof with oversailing eaves and close verges. There are rendered stacks on the roof.
The building has gablets above the second-floor windows and deep verges with ornamental bargeboards that display a clover-leaf motif. The ridge tiles are pierced, adding to the decorative elements. The round-topped Victorian sash windows are adorned with moulded round arched hoods. At the center of the first floor, there is a canted oriel window with a hipped slate roof, and the Victorian sash windows have cambered tops, including narrow side sashes. The flanking windows also feature similar sashes with cambered moulded architraves and a continuous sill band.
On the ground floor, there are Victorian sashes with included architraves. The central doorway is framed by a doorcase with a corniced hood supported by brackets over sunk panelled pilasters. Above the door, there is a large rectangular fanlight over a four-panel door. Additionally, there is a doorway leading to a tunnel passage located at the extreme right of the building.
