Description
The Dyfed County Council Social Services Department is a two-storey, two-bay building constructed around 1870. The left bay has been modernised and is not of special interest. The building features snecked rubble masonry with cast stone dressings and rusticated quoins, topped by a hipped slate roof. It has a full modillion and dentil eaves cornice, along with an eaves band.
To the left, there is a recessed entrance bay with a bipartite round arched window that includes keystones, impost blocks, a sill band, brackets, and sashes. The entrance is enhanced by a classical portico, which has a triangular dentil pediment over a plain entablature supported by composite columns with torus bases. Similar pilasters flank the entrance, which features tall round arched side windows and an impost band. The round arched doorway has a plain fanlight above four panelled double doors.
On the right side, there is an advanced two-window bay with cambered arched windows on both the first and ground floors, also featuring keystones, a sill band, and brackets. These windows have Victorian sashes.
The building is set back from the street line, behind a railed forecourt.
