Description

No. 115, including the tunnel passage and rear range to the right, is a late 19th-century, three-storey shop with two windows. The building features colour-washed plaster with raised quoins on a rubble base and has a gently pitched slate roof with plain eaves and rendered stacks.

The second floor has Victorian sash windows set under the eaves, adorned with moulded architraves and brackets at the sills. The first floor showcases canted oriel windows topped with dentil and modillion cornices, with Victorian sashes and narrow side sashes. The shopfront is notable, featuring a canted recessed central doorway with a cambered fanlight and a half-glazed door. Flanking the doorway are two-light shop windows with cambered tops and turned rods. Above the shopfront is a cornice over a plain fascia, with foliate consoles supporting the end pilasters and plain stallrisers.

The rear range is constructed of rubble with stone voussoirs framing the windows and central doorway, although it has modern fenestration. A cornice extends over the tunnel passage to the extreme right. There is a sign with art nouveau script indicating the former "Reading Room and Library," set below a cambered arch.
