Description

The Portnacraig Inn is an early 19th-century building that was restored around 1990. It is a two-storey structure with a raised basement and features three bays, along with a single-storey wing that creates a courtyard at the rear. The exterior is made of coursed and snecked squared rubble.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, featuring a small gabled brick porch with decorative timber bargeboarding at the center bay on the ground floor. There are two small windows in the bay to the right and a single window to the left, with regular fenestration close to the eaves on the first floor.

The elevation facing Port-Na-Craig Road has a piend roof and includes two windows on each floor, with a prominent central wallhead stack. There is a set-back bay on the outer left that displays a timber sign, and a boundary wall that abuts beyond.

On the river elevation, there is a gabled section to the left with two windows on each floor above the raised basement. To the right, there are three windows in single-storey bays above the raised basement, along with a boarded timber door to the left.

The northwest elevation is single-storey, featuring a window in the bay to the left and a blank bay to the right with a rounded outer angle beyond. There is a lower projecting center bay with a window, and a window and door on the return to the left, along with another window on the return to the right.

The courtyard elevations are irregular, showcasing a variety of elements, including a door on the southwest side. The windows are square timber sash and case with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and the chimney stacks are made of coped ashlar with cans.

The interior is modern. The boundary walls are made of semicircular and rubble-coped rubble.
