Description
The Suspension Bridge in Pitlochry, built in 1913, is a footbridge that crosses the River Tummel. It features a maker's plate that reads 'Lanarkshire Steel Co Ltd, Scotland/Siemens Martin Process'. The bridge is supported by three-stage steel pylons topped with finials, with the southern pylon bearing an inscribed plaque that commemorates Lieutenant Colonel George Glas Sandeman of Fonab and notes that it was opened by the Marchioness of Tulliebardine on Empire Day in 1913. The bridge includes lattice parapets and a girder span that is suspended from cables.
