Description

Fine Wrennaisance style bank. Red rubbed English band brick with ashlar dressings and plinth. 5 bay front, centre. 3 bays slightly advanced, balustraded parapet with urn-like finials over; sunk panelled brick parapet to rest, corniced capping. Full entablature returned to sides. Moulded cornice, with egg and dart and dentils to centre 3 bays, plain frieze. 4 Ionic half columns with tonis bases on panelled pedestals. Flamboyant escutcheon bearing George V monogram with garlands to centre bay over segmental open pediment on scrolled consoles. Moulded architrave. Panelled oak double doors. Steps down to street, bolection moulded treads. Flanking bays with rectangular sunk panels over deep, timber cross framed windows, rectangular lead cames. Rubbed brick voussoirs, ashlar keystones, sill band. Ashlar rusticated quoins.

Similar window with sunk panel over to Bank Buildings side elevation, centre portion advanced with rusticated quoins.

Rear elevation with broad 3 light transomed window to centre flanked by cross windows, rectangular lead cames. Diocletion window over. Squat leaded cupola to roof, lead camed windows.

Canted part glazed entrance lobby, oak panelling. Classical banking hall. Central dome. Deep moulded cornice with egg and dart etc. Moulded plaster panels above dado. Panelled oak counter.
