Description

3 Stone Street is a town house in an informal terrace with a symmetrical design, likely built in the late 18th century and altered in the early 20th century. The building has three bays and stands three storeys tall, topped with a slate gabled roof that features roughcast chimneys on the left and right, with an external chimney breast. The deep eaves are adorned with mutules. The facade is roughcast, with painted stucco window surrounds.

On the upper floors, there is a central two-storey arched recess with a keystone that reaches up to a raised eaves band, flanked by raised sill-bands on either side of the second floor. The outer bays have twelve-pane horned sash windows in stucco surrounds, while the second floor windows are plain and slightly larger on the first floor, both in surrounds with shoulders. The central arched recess contains a stuccoed blank arch at the second floor above a narrow twelve-pane horned sash window in a shouldered surround. This window is situated under a stuccoed frieze and cornice that spans the width of the recess, with the cornice positioned just below the sill band of the second floor.

The ground floor features a 20th-century recessed shop front with a central half-glazed door. The rear of the building is constructed of rubble stone, with brick quoins and window surrounds that exhibit a character from the late 19th to early 20th century.
