Description
Oak House is a house and shop, dating from the 18th century, with a slate roof that has deep eaves, hipped to the left and joined at a canted angle to the neighbouring property on the right. A black brick stack is located on the right side. The front facade is rendered with a rough texture and features a raised plinth and prominent angle strips. Four-pane sash windows are present on each of the upper floors, with one similar window on the ground floor to the right. This ground floor window currently has fixed plate glass. A half-glazed door is situated in the second bay from the right, while a broad shop window with three panes of plate glass occupies the two bays on the left, topped by a fascia and dentil cornice. A four-pane sash window is visible on the left end wall, facing Water Street, on both the first and second floors. A lower, rear wing extends to the north-east. The ground floor has been significantly altered to accommodate a shop.
