Description
11 Stone Street is a two-storey house with four bays, topped by a slate gabled roof. It features a large rubble stone chimney on the right, which it shares with No 9, and may have been built at the same time. The house has four 20th-century rooflights and boxed eaves. The facade is painted stucco, with a flat band below the eaves and a projecting thin course beneath the first-floor sills. Long and short quoins are present on both sides of the building.
On the first floor, there are four evenly spaced 12-pane hornless sash windows, which are offset to the right. These windows have shouldered, keyed surrounds, and there is a similar window to the left on the ground floor. The second bay features stone steps leading up to the original door, which consists of eight moulded and fielded panels set in an arched, panelled recess. Above the door is a radiating-bar fan light, all framed within a fine Roman Doric doorcase. This doorcase includes columns with moulded bases and caps, and a triglyph entablature above that supports an open pediment.
The third bay showcases a mid-19th-century shop front with a fascia on reeded pilasters. It frames a half-glazed 20th-century door with an unusual fanlight, which has a pattern of five outer circles, two linked by bars to a central base half-circle. The shop window features glazing bars that create three lower panes, each with four smaller panes above. In the fourth bay, there is a broad arched window with fixed four-pane glazing, a raised surround, and a keystone that has small pentagonal sunk panels. The interior has not been inspected.
