Description
The Copse is a two-storey house dating from the 19th century, featuring three bays that are offset to the right. It has a slate eaves roof and rendered end chimneys. The facade is painted stucco that is lined to resemble ashlar, with long and short quoins. The facade is irregular, with three upper windows that are not equally spaced, the leftmost window being further out. The windows were originally sashes but were replaced with aluminium and then, in the late 20th century, with 16-pane windows that have hinged top opening lights.
On the ground floor, there are canted bays with hipped metal-clad roofs, each slightly set back from the corresponding upper window. The ground floor windows were also replaced in the late 20th century with small-paned glazing in an 8-16-8 configuration, featuring opening top-lights. The wide doorway may have been a former through passage similar to that at No 2. It has a 20th-century door that replaced a six-panel door within a mid-19th century doorcase. This doorcase features panelled pilasters, large consoles framing a panelled frieze, and a moulded cornice, with panelled reveals.
