Description
This is a corner building attached to No 50 St Catherine's Street, dating from the 19th century. It features unpainted roughcast walls and a slate roof, rising to two and a half storeys. The building has a raised stucco plinth and a three-window front with small-paned windows, some of which have been replaced with uPVC. The centre has a deep-set door flanked by a narrow six-pane light, all framed by three stucco pilasters with a frieze and cornice. Above, there is a three-light window on each floor, with uPVC replacements for the original casements.
The outer bays contain 12-pane horned timber sashes, which are set higher than the centre windows on the upper floors, and feature slate sills. These have been replaced with uPVC on the left side and in the attic on the right. The attic windows break the eaves beneath dormers that have paired stepped corbels supporting stepped bases, full-width sills, and plain bargeboards. A tall rendered stack is located at the left corner of the building.
To the left, there is a lower two-storey, two-window range with roughcast walls, a slate roof, and uPVC windows. The prominent gable end facing St Catherine's Street is also finished in unpainted roughcast, with plain bargeboards and a raised stucco plinth. Each storey features a central tripartite window with a 4-12-4-pane horned sash, complete with a slate sill at the ground and first floors, while the attic window, originally a 12-pane sash, has been replaced with uPVC.
