Description
24 City Road is a terraced house built with unpainted roughcast and features a slate roof with a large brick stack on the right end. The house stands three storeys tall and has three windows. The upper floors contain horned 12-pane sash windows, while the centre window on the second floor is blank. On the ground floor, there is a large timber canted bay with 12-16-12-pane sash windows and a flat roof that has a moulded cornice, which is concealed by a 20th-century eaves board. To the right of the bay, there is a broad opening with a recessed 20th-century door, side-lights, and top lights. Originally, there was a six-panel flush-panelled door with the upper four panels glazed, along with side lights and two top lights set in flush panelled reveals with a wide moulded architrave frame.
Inside, the ground floor front consists of two rooms. The entrance hall features 19th-century tile flooring and a Victorian chimneypiece made of marbled slate. The main room has been altered. At the back, the staircase winds in three short flights up to the first floor, showcasing 19th-century details, including a bulbous turned newel and turned balusters.
