Description
The Tabernacle Church School is a 19th-century schoolroom constructed of painted stucco with slate roofs. It features a long single-storey facade that has a three-bay center flanked by projecting gables. The eaves frieze, supported by large console brackets, extends around the gables and beneath the gable pediments, which display keyed oval plaques dated 1864 and incised scrolls. Square blocks are positioned under the pediment verges. The three central windows are arched and adorned with stucco hoodmoulds resting on moulded corbels, and they include coloured glass marginal glazing. The projecting sections of the building have channelled rustication on the sides, which wraps around broad angle piers at the front, framing a recess that contains two narrow arched windows with similar hoods and glazing as the center windows. Plain double panelled doors are located in the inner side walls of the gabled projections. The south gable end mirrors this detail, featuring a keyed roundel window in the pediment and an arched window below. The north end is constructed of rubble stone and includes an arched window. The interior has not been inspected.
