Description
16 Market Square is a three-storey building featuring a five-window front. The exterior has incised coursing on whitewashed plaster. It has a steeply pitched tile roof that is hipped over the angles to the right, with plain close eaves and a brick chimney stack. The right-hand bay is set back, and the adjoining bay is canted back to create an angle from the main front. The second-floor windows have shallow upper sashes with nine panes, while the first-floor windows are twelve-pane sash types with plain reveals and stone cills. The ground floor has a later 19th-century shopfront, which includes plain pilasters and a moulded cornice above a plain fascia. There is a four-light window and a plain rectangular doorway on the extreme right, featuring a rectangular fanlight with sidebars and a panelled door.
