Description
The building is a schoolroom that was originally the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is situated with its gable end facing the lane and features random rubble masonry that was once whitewashed. The south and rear elevations are slate hung, and the roof, which was added in the later 19th century, has a moderately pitched slate covering with oversailing eaves and plain bargeboards.
On the first floor, there are two single-light windows with crossed glazing bars, supported by brick voussoirs. A former doorway on the ground floor is now obscured by a later brick privy. The north side has a single 12-pane sash window at the first floor level, while the ground floor features two similar windows with plain reveals and stone lintels. A modern corridor connects the schoolroom to the chapel, and there are two blocked windows on the rear elevation, along with additional modern alterations.
The interior was modified in the later 19th century for use as schoolrooms.
