Description
Nos. 5 and 7 Quay Street are commercial premises dating from the 18th century. The buildings are finished in painted stucco and feature a slate close-eaved roof with a rubble stone chimney at the right end. They are low, two-storey structures with three bays, which are offset to the right. No. 5 has two bays, while No. 7 has one.
On the first floor, there are three pairs of casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor of No. 5 has a large six-pane shop window on the right, which replaced a three-light sash window with glazing bars in 1974. To the left of centre, there is a plain door that has been replaced with a 20th-century part-glazed door. No. 7 features a later 20th-century plate glass shop window with a recessed door to the left. A photograph from around 1910 shows a second house door and a window to the left of No. 7.
The interiors of the ground floor have been altered.
