Description
This is a late 19th-century lofted barn, which includes a small section of an earlier building at the northern end. The barn is constructed from rubble stone and features a slate roof. It has a long, two-storey layout with red brick frames around the openings, except for the ground floor on the left side, which is part of the older section. The late 19th-century work includes red brick angle quoins.
There are six widely spaced, square loft windows beneath the eaves, each with slate sills and 6-pane tilting windows, some of which have been renewed. The older part on the ground floor left has stone cornerstones, a vent loop, and a door, along with a recess for a missing date stone above and to the right of the door. Further along, there is a late 19th-century blocked door, followed by a window, another window, a door, and a window that leads to a loose box. The northern end wall features a lean-to. The southern end has external steps leading up to the loft door.
The rear of the barn is built against a bank and has one door located to the right of centre on the ground floor (on the eastern side). To the left of centre, there is a row of doveholes at floor level, and a centrally positioned gabled loft door that breaks the eaves. There are two loft windows on each side of the barn.
Inside, the barn has a single long 12-bay loft and retains remnants of shafting for mill machinery on the ground floor.
