Description
High Roost is a former vicarage built between 1827 and 1830 by William Owen of Haverfordwest. The building features whitewashed roughcast walls and a hipped slate roof. It is a two-storey structure with a three-window range of sash windows, having 12 panes above and 16 panes below, along with a central door that has an arched head. There is an added flat-roofed enclosed porch with a door and a traceried overlight. The original doorway includes a half-oval traceried fanlight and a half-glazed door.
On the west side, there is a blank roughcast wall to the left and a slate-hung wall to the right, each with one 12-pane window on both floors. A lean-to is present on the south end wall. The rear of the building has been extended, with a southeast rear wing added.
Inside, there is a staircase featuring stick balusters and a ramped rail, and the stair hall is illuminated by a small glazed lantern. The left room on the ground floor has a plain plaster cornice, while the right-hand room has a 19th-century cornice and an early 19th-century-style timber fireplace surround. The doors throughout the building are six-panel doors.
