Description

Nos 1-16 Archway Stores is a building featuring an arcade of 17 arches that increase in height as they follow the slope of Penniless Cove Hill from east to west. The arch heads descend in relation to the parapet. The structure is made of grey limestone, with tooled stone voussoirs and square piers between the arches. Inside, there are brick arched vaults. Each spandrel has a drain hole with a stone shelf. Above, there is a rubble parapet to the garden, topped with rough stone coping. Nos 15 and 15A have full-height painted timber doors and infill, while the other units are partially enclosed.
