Description
1 St Julian's Street is a terraced house, likely dating to the 18th century, with a painted stucco exterior. The building has a curved front elevation, four storeys, and a parapet. It is double-fronted, with renewed 12-pane windows on all floors. The windows are narrower on the third floor, and the first-floor window on the right has been replaced by a timber canted oriel window with 2-4-2-pane sashes, featuring rounded heads to the top panes. The ground-floor windows are fixed 12-pane designs, positioned either side of a plain doorway with a half-glazed door. A raised plinth is present, with a basement grille.
The interior is narrow and originally windowless to the rear, as it was built against the rear wing of St Julian’s House, Bridge Street. The ground floor is now a single room, retaining a remnant of a moulded cornice. A plain, narrow staircase is enclosed from the ground floor, and the landing features stick balusters, along with the upper flight of the stairs which has a closed string.
