Description

No 3 St Julian Terrace, also known as Beauchief House, is a terraced house that is part of a pair. It features a painted stucco facade with three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with two bays on each side. The building has a parapet and a 20th-century slate-hung gable at the back, which includes a 12-pane sash window. The slate roofs are complemented by red brick stacks on the right side.

The front of the house showcases 12-pane hornless sash windows and an arched doorway to the left, framed by an ornate moulded timber pedimented surround. The open pediment is supported by large console brackets on pilasters, which have moulded panels and caps adorned with acanthus leaves beneath each console. The pediment also features a small anthemion motif. The capital mouldings extend around the panelled reveals, creating an impost band. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with a fanlight that has radiating bars.

In front, there are 20th-century area railings on dwarf stucco walls, with uprights topped by fleur-de-lys finials and alternately looped in pairs. There are three steps leading down to the basement on the right and three steps leading up to the front door.

The rear of the house is similar, with a slate-hung gable behind the parapet that includes a 20th-century sash window. The gable is larger for No 3 compared to No 4. No 3 is rendered, while No 4 is slate-hung, and both have two 12-pane sash windows on the second floor, along with a two-storey centre bay window featuring renewed casement lights from the late 20th century.
