Description
The Old Dairy is a former model dairy building, constructed with roughcast and featuring slate roofs with deep eaves. It is a single-storey, long structure that has a large half-hipped centre cross-range and small half-hipped pavilions at each end, positioned between low cowshed ranges. The centre section has a half-hipped roof topped with a large hipped-ended long louvred ventilator on the ridge. The front has three bays with raised piers separating broad cambered-headed windows; there are two long windows on each side and a shorter window in the centre above an altered half-glazed door. The long windows are designed with mullions and transoms, featuring small panes, while the centre window has only top lights.
The side ranges include square-headed doors, with the left range having five doors, and the second and third ranges being smaller. The end pavilion on the left has two cambered-headed doors. The right range has been altered and includes four 20th-century windows and one 20th-century double window. The end pavilion on the right features a 20th-century upper window.
The rear of the building mirrors the front's centre section but lacks a door, instead having cambered-headed windows in each side wall. The low wings at the back have four cambered-headed windows, alternating in width, with the left wing containing a door at the far left. The right end pavilion has two long cambered-headed windows, with the left window featuring one inserted small 20th-century window. The interior was not accessible during the inspection.
