Description

12 Alban Square is a terrace of two-storey houses built in a simple classical style. The front of Nos 10 and 11 is finished in cement render, No 12 features scribed render, and No 13 has a roughcast finish. The terrace has end pilaster strips, plinths, and a cill band on No 10, along with slate roofs, wide boarded eaves, and a mix of five rendered and one rubble chimney stacks. The sash windows, which typically have glazing bars, are mainly 12-pane, with 16-pane ground floor windows on Nos 10 and 14, while No 11 and the later bay on No 13 have different window styles. All windows have lugged architraves and keystones, except for No 14. The ground floor windows of Nos 10 and 14 are set in segmental arched recesses, while Nos 11 and 12 have similar windows on the first floor. No 13 features a later 19th-century two-storey splayed and gabled bay with ornamental bargeboards, a finial, and two-light sash glazing with panelled decoration between the floors and at the base. The arched entrances have two orders with panelled architraves and keystones; Nos 10 to 12 have recessed six-panel doors with a six-pane fanlight, No 13 has a three-panel door, and No 14 features a six-panel door with a five-pane fanlight. There are iron railings in front of No 14.
