Description
12 Market Street is a terrace of three-storey buildings featuring two-window simple classical frontages. Nos. 11 and 13 have scribed render, while nos. 9, 10, and 12 are finished in roughcast. No. 10 has end pilaster strips, and no. 11 features rusticated quoins. The buildings have slate roofs with wide boarded eaves and four rubble chimney stacks.
The first and second floors predominantly have sash glazing, except for the second floor of no. 12, which has a fixed window. Nos. 9, 10, and 12 have 9 and 12-pane windows, while nos. 11 and 13 have 4-pane windows. Nos. 10 and 11 display lugged architraves with keystones, while no. 9 has half architraves. The ground floor of no. 10 features a 12-pane window, no. 11 has a splayed bay with sash glazing, and no. 12 has a similar bay but with glazing bars. No. 13 has a modern window.
The doors include a six-panel door with a fanlight at no. 10, a four-panel door with a fanlight at no. 11, a two-panel door with a fanlight at no. 12, and a boarded door with a fanlight at no. 13. The entrance to the recently renovated no. 9 is located on the roughcast Queen Street elevation and features small pane modern sash windows.
