Description
10 Market Street is a terrace of three-storey buildings featuring two-window simple classical frontages. The buildings at Nos 11 and 13 have scribed render, while Nos 9, 10, and 12 are roughcast. No 10 has end pilaster strips, and No 11 features rusticated quoins. The roofs are covered with slate and have wide boarded eaves, supported by four rubble chimney stacks.
The first and second floors generally have sash glazing, except for the second floor of No 12, which has fixed glazing. Nos 9, 10, and 12 have 9 and 12-pane windows, while Nos 11 and 13 have 4-pane windows. The windows at Nos 10 and 11 are adorned with lugged architraves and keystones, whereas Nos 9 and 12 have half architraves, and No 13 has no architraves.
No 9 features modern splayed bay windows, while No 10 has a 12-pane window on the ground floor. No 11 has a splayed bay with sash glazing, and No 12 has a similar bay but with glazing bars. No 13 has a modern window. The doors include a six-panel door with a fanlight at No 10, a four-panel door with a fanlight at No 11, a two-panel door with a fanlight at No 12, and a boarded door with a fanlight at No 13. The entrance to the recently renovated No 9 is located on the roughcast Queen Street elevation and features small pane modern sash windows.
