Description
9 Market Street is a three-storey building featuring a simple classical design with two window frontages. The buildings at Nos 11 and 13 have a scribed render finish, while Nos 9, 10, and 12 are roughcast. No 10 has end pilaster strips, and No 11 showcases rusticated quoins. The slate roofs have wide boarded eaves and there are four rubble chimney stacks.
The first and second floors predominantly feature sash glazing, except for the second floor of No 12, which has a fixed window. Nos 9, 10, and 12 have 9 and 12-pane windows, while Nos 11 and 13 have 4-pane windows. Nos 10 and 11 have lugged architraves with keystones, Nos 9 and 12 have half architraves, and No 13 lacks architraves altogether.
No 9 has modern splayed bay windows, No 10 features a 12-pane window on the ground floor, No 11 has a splayed bay with sash glazing, and No 12 has a similar bay but with glazing bars. No 13 has a modern window. The doors include a six-panel door with a fanlight at No 10, a four-panel door with a fanlight at No 11, a two-panel door with a fanlight at No 12, and a boarded door with a fanlight at No 13. The entrance to the recently renovated No 9 is located on the roughcast elevation facing Queen Street and includes small pane modern sash windows.
