Description

16 Market Street is a two-storey building featuring a three-window front with scribed render, roughcast, and pebbledash in a simple classical style. The front includes lugged end pavilions, with No 17 on the right being a detached structure that has wide boarded eaves. The roofs of Nos 15 and 16 are slate with narrow eaves, while there are four chimney stacks made of cement render (one heightened in brick) and one made of rubble. The buildings have rusticated quoins from Nos 14 to 16, and No 17 has end pilaster strips. There are plinths and a cill band on No 15, along with roof cresting on No 16.

The windows are sash-glazed, with two-light windows on the first floors of Nos 14 to 16 and a 12-pane window on No 17. The ground floor of No 14 has later four-light sashes, while Nos 15 and 16 have two-light sashes, and No 17 has a 16-pane window. All windows feature lugged architraves, with No 15 having rusticated details and keystones. Nos 14 and 17 have bracketed hoods over their central entrances, which are adorned with pilaster strips. The entrances to Nos 15 and 16 also have lugged architraves, with No 15's being rusticated. The doors to Nos 14, 15, and 17 are panelled, while No 16 has a modern door, all with plain fanlights.

At the rear, there is a boarded door leading to a lane between Nos 16 and 17. The right end wall of No 17, which faces Victoria Street, is roughcast and features end pilaster strips, with 12-pane sash windows that have lugged architraves and keystones. There is also a roughcast extension at the rear. No 17, known as Ianthe House, was previously an inn and served as a meeting place for the Aberaeron Benefit Society.
