Description
The railings at Rhydfendigaid Calvinistic Methodist chapel are dated to the 19th century. They feature entrance gates situated between two squared stone piers, which have a plinth, cap, and pyramid top made of white quartz. The gates themselves are crafted from cast iron and include dogbars, spearhead rails, and a curved top-rail.
On either side of the gates, there are added walls and rails that consist of a rendered wall supporting lengths of iron rails. These rails have twisted dog-bars, spearhead main uprights, and heart-scrolls beneath the top rail. The rails are divided into sections by red brick piers, which have tops that are chamfered to accommodate cast-terracotta caps. These caps feature slightly rounded friezes, cornices, and shallow pyramidal tops.
To the right of the central gate, there are eight piers, while to the left, there are five piers. At the far left, there is a pair of rock-faced stone piers topped with white quartz caps.
