Description
The piers and railings at Bethania Calvinistic Methodist Chapel are notable features from the 19th century. They consist of forecourt walls and railings arranged in two lengths on either side of the central gates. The low walls are made of rock-faced rubble stone topped with red sandstone ashlar coping, and they are complemented by low iron railings that include some wrought iron scroll-work panels between plain sections. There are four squared rock-faced stone piers, each capped with red stone pyramids. The inner pair of piers has cast-iron lamp-holders and supports paired gates. These gates feature lower dog-bars and upper scroll-work detailing.
