Description
The gates across the driveway at Aberpergwm House are notable wrought iron structures dating from the 20th century. They feature broad gated access with matching wrought iron surrounds for pedestrian gateways on either side. The main entrance includes two large openwork gatepiers adorned with scrollwork infill and cast-iron concave-pyramid plinths topped with ball finials, which support large double gates. On each side, there are narrow 20th-century pedestrian gates that are currently welded shut, set within the original surrounds. The outer side piers of these pedestrian gates match the scrollwork of the main piers but are flat rather than four-sided and shorter in height. Above the pedestrian gates, there is scrolled ironwork that connects to the sides of the main piers. Additionally, there is a short curve of iron railings on each side, leading to another panel of wrought ironwork with a finial at the inner end of each, and a stone pier at the outer end.
