Description
The Grosvenor Hotel is a 19th-century building featuring roughcast walls and a slate roof that is hipped at the southeast angle, with a brick stack at the south end. It stands two and a half storeys tall and has a three-window range. The eaves are supported by paired brackets, and there is a central pedimental gable. The gable includes a tripartite lunette with original small-paned sash windows. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sashes with slate sills; however, the center sash does not align with the lunette. The ground floor has a 12-pane sash window to the left, a central door that is also misaligned with the window above, and a canted bay window to the right with a 4-12-4 pane configuration, which is not aligned either. The entrance features a six-panel door with a lozenge-tracery overlight, set within a painted timber doorcase that has panelled piers and a head, topped with a shelf hood supported by brackets.
The south end wall has bracket eaves and a two-window range with widely spaced 12-pane sashes on the upper floor. Below, there is a door and a 20th-century curved bow window. Attached to the west side is a three-storey house that matches the roughcast finish, featuring cambered-headed sash windows. The second floor has two 9-pane sashes, while the first floor has a bowed oriel window with a 4-12-4 pane configuration to the left and a 12-pane sash to the right. The ground floor has 12-pane sashes and a central six-panel door with an overlight, although the doorcase has been stripped away to reveal a blue lias stone surround. The ground floor of the Grosvenor Hotel has been altered.
