Description
6 New Street is a Victorian-altered building within a late Georgian terrace. It is three stories high and, except for No 6, has a basement. The frontages are mostly scribed, roughcast render with two windows. Nos 10 and 12, and 14 and 16 are paired, while No 8 features an additional window on the altered ground floor. The roofs are slate with wide bracket eaves and mainly rubble chimney stacks. The sash windows lack glazing bars, except for those in the basements. Nos 10 to 20 have three-story bay windows, while No 6 has a two-story oriel window above a tripartite ground floor window. All properties, except No 7, have pilastered doorcases with cornice lintels and various panelled doors. The doorcase of No 20 has been filled in with a fixed glazed window, and its entrance is now accessed from Castle Street through a similar doorcase. The rendered end wall features a sash window to the right.
