Description
No 1 Richmond House is a large pair of stucco villas built in the 19th century. The buildings are three stories tall and feature a five-window arrangement in a 1-3-1 pattern, topped with a slate hipped roof and three stuccoed chimney stacks. The central section of the villas is slightly advanced and also has a hipped roof. Each part of the structure includes rusticated quoins, moulded string courses, a moulded eaves cornice, and four-pane sash windows with moulded labels, keystones, and slate sills. The central window is positioned between two six-panel doors that have overlights, all set within tall stucco doorcases that feature console brackets supporting the cornices and deep overlights. The end elevations have two windows each, and the rear gable is constructed of rubble stone with a stuccoed gable and an end stack. The villas are set on a high rubble stone terrace, which is accompanied by an intersected wire railing dating from around 1900.
