Description

A pair of semi-detached villas dating from approximately 1820 to 1850, located on Queen's Road, Cheltenham. The houses are constructed with stucco over brickwork, featuring concealed roof and stucco end stacks, with iron balconies. They are two storeys and a basement, with attics to the rear, and have four first-floor windows. A single-storey entrance porch is situated on each side. A further two-storey wing projects to the rear of the right-hand property. Stucco detailing includes Ionic pilasters to the ends and between windows across the ground and first floors, topped by a crowning dentil entablature. The windows are mostly replacements, with 1/1 sashes; the basement windows are 6/6 sashes. Ground floor windows are within plain reveals and have sills. The right-hand entrance has a round-arched window to the front facade and an opening to the return with two Ionic columns, leading to a flight of steps and a panelled door. A similar entrance is on the left. The rear elevation retains a mix of 8/8 and 6/6 sashes. The interior of the properties has not been inspected. External features include a stuccoed balustrade with bulbous balusters at ground-floor level on plinths. Individual balconies to the first-floor windows incorporate a lattice motif.
