Description

Imperial House is a villa, now converted into flats, built in squared blue lias stone with a slate roof and large black brick chimney stacks at the ends. The south elevation facing Church Street is two storeys high and features three windows. It has a prominent timber bracketed cornice, three first-floor 12-pane sash windows with slightly cambered rendered heads, and three ground-floor arch-headed sash windows with radiating glazing bars. The stone frames of the ground-floor windows are recessed and have rendered arched heads, with slate sills beneath. There are also two basement cambered-headed windows fitted with iron grilles and a large 20th-century dormer.

On the east side, the wall has a slate course across the gable, with an attic window, a first-floor 12-pane sash, and a six-panel door all centrally located. To the right, there is a long pointed arched stair light with small panes and intersecting glazing bars. The door features a traceried overlight and is set within a timber tent porch that has altered wooden posts at the outer angles.

The rear wall includes three windows above and below a large six-panel door, which also has a traceried overlight and a hood supported on brackets. There are two basement windows as well.

Inside, there is an open-well stair with stick balusters located at the east end, consisting of two flights and a landing.
