Description
This villa, now converted to flats, was built around 1800 and subsequently altered, including late 20th-century renovations and an extension to the rear. It is constructed of Bath stone ashlar over brick, with a replaced shallow-hipped slate roof, and a renewed brick stack featuring an oversailing course and decorative pots. The villa follows a single-depth, central hallway plan and extends over a basement.
The main three-storey portion has three windows on each floor. A single-storey, single-bay range is situated to the right and left. The main range is distinguished by a plinth, plain end pilasters, a crowning frieze and cornice. It features 8/8 sash windows on the ground and first floors, and 4/4 sashes on the second floor, all with plain reveals and sills. A flight of steps leads to a raised-and-fielded-panel door set within an ashlar doorcase with an open pediment resting on pilasters with fleurons on their caps. The fanlight above the door incorporates Gothic glazing bars. The range to the left has a 10/10 sash window, while the range to the right is blank on the front facade, but has a 10/10 sash window on its return. The right return also includes a blind first-floor window and a 3/3 sash window to the second floor. The outer ranges are finished with a crowning frieze, cornice, and blocking course.
The interior is reported to retain some original features.
