Description

Red Hill House is a house built around 1820-1840. It is rendered over brick and features a hipped slate roof with rendered stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, presenting a four-window front with 6/6-pane sash windows on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are four French windows that open onto a verandah, which has a tented lead roof supported by slender fluted cast iron columns and is adorned with an ornate cast-iron frieze. The other elevations have plate-glass sashes and enlarged openings. Inside, the house is known to have retained its original fireplaces, cornicing, and joinery, including panelled doors with moulded architraves.
