Description
Anchor House is a three-storey building with a classical front, dating from the 19th century. The façade is finished in scribed render and framed by pilaster strips, topped with a pyramidal hipped slate roof, boarded eaves, and two cement rendered end stacks. The front features three windows, which are set towards the centre; the second floor has nine-pane sash windows, while the first floor has twelve-pane sash windows, all with voussoir lintels and plain reveals.
On the ground floor, there are two shop fronts. The left shop front has a plain fascia that rests on double volute brackets and panelled pilasters, with a shop window that is splayed to a central half-glazed door entrance. The right shop front is similar in design.
The right side of the building faces Water Street and is finished in scribed render, featuring three blocked windows and two sash windows. There is a modern brick addition to the right that is not of special interest, and the rear of the building is finished in cement render.
