Description
J R Evans & Co is a three-storey building with a classical front, featuring scribed render and framed by pilaster strips. It has a pyramidal hipped slate roof with boarded eaves and two cement rendered end stacks. The facade is three windows wide, with the windows set towards the center. The second floor has nine-pane sash windows, while the first floor has twelve-pane sash windows, all with voussoir lintels and plain reveals.
On the ground floor, there are two shop fronts. The left shop front has a plain fascia supported by double volute brackets and panelled pilasters, with a shop window that is splayed to a central half-glazed door entrance. The right shop front is similar in design.
The right side of the building faces Water Street and features scribed render with three blocked windows and two sash windows. There is a modern brick addition to the right that is not of special interest. The rear of the building is finished in cement render.
