Description

Ye Olde Shoppe is a two-storey timber frame building dating from the late 16th century or 17th century, with later alterations. It was originally jettied over the ground floor and had its main doorway to a cross passage on the right side. The building features a slate roof with scalloped bargeboards, close studding, and paired modern casement windows on the first floor. A 19th-century double shop front has been pushed forward under the jetty, with a central door accessed by steps and a boarded door to the right. There is a massive brick stack and additional 19th-century extensions at the rear.

The interior is reported to retain part of its original plan form, including timber joists and main cross beams.
