Description
Manchester House, which includes Just Jill and Sparey Newsagent, is a three-storey building with a three-window facade dating from the later Georgian period. The front is constructed of red brick that is not bonded with the adjoining structure. It features a slate roof that sweeps down to projecting eaves, end bargeboards, and a large brick stack on the right gable. The windows are double-hung sash and case style, complete with glazing bars, rubbed brick work above the window heads, plain reveals, and window box holders at the first floor. The shop front, which is overall from the 19th century, has recessed central doors and panelled pilasters with foliage consoles supporting a moulded cornice.
At the rear, there is a low 17th-century range made of rendered rubble and timber framing, topped with a stone slab roof. Inside, it is said to retain a section of linenfold panelling.
