Description
Kinnerton Court is a building from the early to mid 18th century, featuring two storeys with attics. It is constructed from coursed rubble blocks with a high plinth and has a rendered front elevation, although the rear is partially overpainted. The hipped slate roof has swept eaves and coved boxing on the front half of the building. A pediment with a lunette is present, along with three large projecting rubble stacks topped with brick, including two end stacks and one on the right side of the rear portion.
The front has three windows, with the lower ones being large modern casements and the upper ones consisting of 12-pane horned sashes. The central front door is a late 19th-century panelled door set within an earlier surround that features a fanlight and is topped by a hooped, leaded canopy supported on consoles.
Inside, there are six-panel doors, boxed beams, and flagstone floors. The front right-hand room has a large open fireplace with a straight timber lintel, an arched wall cupboard, and a landing archway that includes a keyblock and imposts. The central open-well staircase features a scroll newel, a curtail step, an open string with decorative tread brackets, a ramped handrail, and very unusual balustrading panels that combine cusped Gothic motifs with Chippendale-style fretwork.
